Yes, We Have Cannons!

Epoxy Glitter Dip Over Metal- Pirate Ship Cannons

This is another video in our Dog House series. In this video we glitter the metal cannons that decorate the Pirate Ship located in the dog house. We use an epoxy dip to achieve the desired glitter effect.

Comments:

We mention cleaning the metal in the video at length. Do not underestimate the need to clean metal before using epoxy or really any sealer. Metal grunge and mill scale will act like a resist and you can have open patches or poor adhesion.

There are lots of cleaners out there and you have to be careful. Ones with abrasives can scratch the surface of the metal, some degreasers will etch some metal surfaces, other cleaners leave a film that you need to clean off- in addition to the mill scale (grunge). For that reason we like to use Acetone as it cleans fast and dries even faster. However, it is nasty stuff so be careful!

Solvent Resistant Glitters should be used with epoxy. This link will take to a section of the site where these types of glitters are sold.

This is the glitter that we used for this project. It is a very high quality epoxy that we use for all sorts of epoxy surface coated projects (not good for casting).
Search notes. When using the search feature it is best to skip using the word glitter. For example type in FLOOR instead of Glitter Floor.
