Epoxy Glitter Floor- Plywood
This is one of our Dog House series videos. We assembled a Little Cottage Company "Cape Code Cottage" for a family of dogs. The entire house is glittered inside! For this video, we took on the floor with an epoxy flood coat and glitter.
Comments:
The floor went really well but we did have to do two coats. There was two reasons for this. 1. We should have done two coats of paint. When we put the paint on you could still see a bit of one of the plywood joints. We were sure the glitter would hide it- well it did not. 2. We were unhappy with the floor being just about the same color as the walls. We had hoped it would be more golden (it would have been if we had gotten the base paint right).
Fix: To fix both the issues we did a second flood coat (just wiped the floor down with some rubbing alcohol) and it worked great. The first flood was with Gold Mica Polyester (ultra classy) and the second was with Midas Touch Holographic Polyester (dancing rainbows). The two coats caused a depth that you cannot get with just one. We were super happy with the result!

Not all Polyester glitter is OK for floors. It needs to be UV resistant. We have a special section of the site set up for these glitters on our website Glitter For Floors.

We used Extreme Polishing System epoxy on this floor. Be sure to get CLEAR. They sell a lot of colors so be careful when shopping.
