Magical Glitter Cactus

Glittering With Spar Urethane

In this video we use an easy to find Spar Urethane sealer (outdoor) and use it as both adhesive and a sealer with solvent resistant polyester glitter. It turned out great and apparently has magical properties to boot!

Comments:

In this project we wanted to take an inexpensive, easy to find, outdoor sealer and try it out with our glitter. It does alter the color a bit but it holds on tight and still sparkles. It has a yellow tint to it when it goes on and would not be appropriate for pastels, whites or colors that must not alter when sealed. In the case of the cactus, we did not mind a slight change of color so it worked. This cactus will be a garden sculpture and exposed to the outside elements and long winters. This brand does have a UV inhibitor so it should offer some sun protection to the metallic polyester (which also is solvent resistant and coated with a UV inhibitor), so that should help slow the fading of the colors. One coat was put on as a sealer. We would not recommend doing more or the shine is going to drop dramatically.

Search notes. When using the search feature it is best to skip using the word glitter. For example type in FLOOR instead of Glitter Floor.
