Glitter Meets Cactus- It's Love

Glittered Cactus- Spar Urethane

We covered a metal sculpture in glitter using Varathane Spar Urethane as both the adhesive and the sealer. It turned out great and apparently has magical properties to boot! Watch to the end for a bonus "mini movie".

Comments:

Spar Urethane has a yellow tint to it when it goes on and would not be appropriate for pastels, whites or colors that must not alter when sealed. In the case of the cactus, we did not mind a slight change of color so it worked. This brand does come with a UV inhibitor so that should help slow the fading of the colors. The glitter that was used for this project was Polyester Metallics which are solvent resistant and UV resistant. This cactus will be a garden sculpture and exposed to the outside elements and long winters.
