Glittering Redwood Tables
The two videos on this page cover glittering redwood tables. We do one outdoor table using Solvent Resistant Urethane Resin and an indoor table using Two Part Epoxy. The tips given in these videos will work for all natural wood tables. Redwood is one of the most porous and most challenging, so we are showing the hardest wood to glitter and seal.

There are a few websites out there that tell you that if you coat epoxy with a solvent based urethane (with UV inhibitors) you can put your epoxy coated item outside in the sun. Usually, the second sentence says "but it really does not work". Well, we have found that is true. Save your money and keep your epoxy for indoor items and keep your solvent urethane for indoor or outdoor use.
The glitter we like to use on natural wood (so you can still see the lovely grain) is Iridescent glitter. We sell certain colors in the Glitter For Floors section of our site that are clear with an iridescent coating. Using this glitter will allow you to see the grain and add a flash of color when light hits it. In this video we used a beautiful one called Apollo's Chariot in ultra fine. It flashes gold with an occasional hint of green. A little bit of this glitter goes a long way when you are using it as an accent (and not going for total coverage). We used less than 1 ounce for both tables in this video.
Rule: "The bigger the flake, the bigger the sparkle". When you are looking for a subtle effect we recommend you stick with the Ultra Fine flakes. Anything larger will tend to detract from the loveliness of the wood grain.
